November 13, 2015 – The Floor Covering Leadership Council (FCLC) met during TISE East in Orlando, FL. The 3 main focuses of the group remain – better communication amongst the industry and the members of the council, education and training for the industry and working towards ways to grow the pool of installers in the marketplace. The council meets twice a year to work on these issues and to communicate our organization’s activities and actions within the flooring industry. “We always start the meeting with providing an update on our organizations. This allows all organizations to have a better understanding of what we are all accomplishing for the industry and fosters better communication,” stated Kim Oderkirk, Committee Chairman for the Communication and Cooperation Committee. The Council also heard a presentation from CARE, the Carpet America Recovery Effort and learned about the NWFA Education & Research Foundation Wood Studies Scholarship program for high school seniors. The Installation committee and Education and Training committee continue to work towards their goals and will report more at the next meeting.
